Food for Holistic Living

Learning about our bodies is a work in progress. As we age we learn there are foods we didn't or customarily wouldn't eat, that we now enjoy. Why would I think this is important for me to mention on our site? When we devote more time and intention to healthful eating at the beginning, we reduce our chances of disruption later.

Over time, Hawk and I have learned which foods make our bodies happy and have been including more of those in our diet while reducing or in some cases even eliminating the others, like gluten, in our case. We follow what may be best described as a flexitarian diet, with

emphasis placed on natural, whole foods that are sustainably and ethically farmed. We eat what we want, while focusing on what our bodies need, in moderation.

Before we eat something we ask ourselves: What nutrition does this food provide? How does it affect how we feel after consuming it? What effect does it have on inflammation? In all cases, we consume

with gratitude towards the food items themselves, towards the people who worked to get the food to us, and to the people who prepared the food.

This is our approach to healthy eating for the lifestyle we enjoy. We’ll show you how exciting non-traditional food can look, taste, and feel. We will include meals and snacks we prepare at home, what we make for camping trips, and what we store and prepare for emergencies.

Your own food journey is as unique as you are. We encourage you to follow a journey that empowers you to get the most from your life, hoping that what is presented here inspires you to live your best life!
