These are a few of my favorite gluten-free things...

In my last blog entry, I talked about some of our more personal benefits of living GF, but in this entry, I just want to talk about my favorite foods and snacks. I've interviewed a few more of my GF friends, so I'll also add some of their favorites. One of the most challenging parts of being gluten free is finding satisfying things to munch on when you're on the road. A newly GF person is the most vulnerable when it comes to snacking on the go. We really like the Kind Bars,

especially the dark chocolate kind. You can find them at any Wawa,

Winn-Dixie, or Wal-Mart. (You see what I did there.) They're delicious, nice and crunchy, and satisfying. One of those, with a Chobani strawberry yogurt, and apple, and a nice cold bottle of water.

When you really need a piece of candy when you're traveling, Starburst candies are naturally GF. In fact, most of the popular candies are gluten free. As a rule, I generally pay very close attention to anything that is crispy or has some time of cookie in it. The candy companies have been a little bit slow to go GF. I'm looking forward to the day I see a GF Twix or KitKat bar. Remember those old Caramel Creams and Cow Tales? They're also not gluten free, yet. Most of those really crazy Reese's candy monstrosities are also NOT GF...

it easy in the morning (that's changing...always changing.). We both absolutely love the

Cheerios Oat Crunch, especially the Oats n' Honey variety. It's sooo good, you must try it. Oh, and always an apple. Preferably a small, shapely Honeycrisp. Some Kevita Tart Cherry Kombucha to give me some naturally-derived probiotics. Oatmeal has been one of those controversial foods for some in the GF community because in the past, there had been cases of cross-contamination in oats. These days you can find GF Certified Oats, so you don't have to worry. I love to make baked oatmeal, as you already know, and my favorite is the Quaker steel-cut oats. It's perfect on those mornings when I want to get a slow and easy start with my corned beef hash, eggs, and perfect coffee.

As you can see, the GF way o

f life is full of opportunities to choose healthy eating. You'll quickly begin to learn that planning is a necessity, because there will be some items that you'll need to prepare at home. The market is rapidly adding more delicious and healthy manufactured GF foods to the market, and you're going to find that the GF wy of living will look more appealing by the week. It only takes one week to feel better. We're still putting the finishing touches on our actual shop, but your support will really help us get our store off the ground. This page is just a glimpse of some of the GF snacks and foods that I and my friends like. Anything you buy after the link takes you to Amazon will support our store and our cause. Helping people live healthier and happier lives through GF eating is our mission. Thank you for your support! And we're always excited to hear your GF experiences on our Facebook page, Hawk and Tiger GF. Happy Thoughts!
